To visit Italy, choose the train : the network of the Italian Railways covers 6,000 km
(3,700 miles), with 1,000 trains running daily, connecting big cities and small towns,
inside Italy and with all other European countries.
Whatever your destination is, a train will take you there quickly and comfortably.
All the beautiful landscapes of Italy : the sweet hills of Tuscany, covered with vineyards,
the stately Dolomiti mountains, the blues and the greens of the sea shores, the quiet countryside,
the busy towns, all framed by the window they will pass by the traveler’s eyes.
It won’t take long to do all that : 1 hour and a half to go from Rome to Florence,
45 minutes from Florence to Pisa, less than 3 hours from Florence to Venice,
always right into the very heart of the town.
And for longer journeys (Italy is more than 2,500 kilometers-1,500 miles-long !),
or for international connections, you can save time taking an overnight train.
In a comfortable sleeping car you will be taken to your destination rested and ready
for a whole new day of discovering.
Traveling by train is always relaxing : plenty of place for legs and luggage,
air conditioning, people to meet, a snack or a drink always at hand.
And on board the luxury new Pendolino trains, the traveler can relax and hear music with earphone,
or read a magazine, chatter at the bar or taste a delicious meal.
In the main stations, all kind of facilities are found : trolleys, porters and luggage office,
information office, bank, shops, change, restaurants, rent-a-car, hotel reservations.
For travelers arriving to Fiumicino International airport in Roma, there are trains leaving every
15 minutes, to Roma Ostiense and Roma Tiburtina stations where they connect with the Underground,
and trains leaving every hour, to Roma Termini, the main Railway station, in half an hour.
Eurailpasses and Europasses are valid on these trains with no extra charge.
All other airports are connected to the center of the towns by frequent bus services.
